Flyers Injury Update

The Flyers received some bad news, as two of their top players have suffered injuries in the game against the Devils on Saturday afternoon, as Jaromir Jagr left the game with a lower-body injury, likely the same groin problems that had hindered him already this season, and Daniel Briere suffered a concussion in the game, which will keep him out of the line-up for an indefinite period of time.

Jagr has already missed some time due to some groin issues this season, most notably the absence in the second half of the Winter Classic.  Jagr has been limited to 40 games this season with the Flyers, scoring 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points, good enough for 78th in pool scoring this year.

There is no word as to how long Jagr may be out of the line-up for, but if he is just nursing a troublesome groin, then a couple games wouldn't likely be out of the question.

Briere was hit a few times in the game against the Devils, two big hits from Anton Volchenkov were very notable and things do not look so good for the diminutive forward.  It does look like he'll miss a significant amount of time, which hurts the Flyers, who have collected 13 goals and 16 assists from him in 43 games this year.  He has been good and will be missed.

ImplicationsBoth of these injuries will have an impact on the draft pool, as Scott G., who sits in 15th spot, has Jagr and Brenda F., who is in 9th place, has Briere. Of course, Brenda will miss Briere the most, especially since her team is only 26 points out of the money with a full week in between now and the second waiver draft. Having to drop Briere would be a heartbreaking loss, but making sure her team is healthy for the stretch run will be clutch. If her team drops down a spot, the chances of getting a better forward in the waiver draft is a mixed blessing.
