The Edmonton Oilers also demoted a top prospect on Sunday afternoon, sending forward Jesse Puljujarvi to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL, a spot where he played for the better part of last season as well. The 19-year old has struggled to make an impact with the big club in the early part of his career, but with a ton of offensive weapons already on the team, his development would be much better suited for top six minutes in the AHL, rather than bottom six minutes at the NHL level.
Bad luck for Eric, as his last pick isn't going to be earning him very many points early on this season. I would have to think that Puljujarvi will be a candidate for a recall at some point in the season, when the inevitable injuries arise. Eric's team will also start the season with only 25 projected games in Week One, which gets started on Wednesday.
