Looking over the opening day rosters, which the NHL published this morning after yesterday's deadline, it was very noticeable to see both forward Patrick Eaves and goalie Ryan Miller on Anaheim's Injury-Non Roster List, which is likely just a bit of paper pushing, more than anything. Both Eaves (lower-body) and Miller (upper-body) are probable for their opening game, which goes Thursday night, at home to the Coyotes.
The Ducks may have been looking for a bit more play under the salary cap with these moves or at the very least, give a couple prospects another practice. This doesn't look great for Dale C. or Cam, who get games taken off their projected games this week, but the return should be quick... in theory.
As expected, Alex DeBrincat was recalled this morning by the Chicago Blackhawks, as the CBA/salary cap rules were massaged by the Blackhawks, trying to ensure that they have the maximum allowable to spend this season, even after signing defenseman Cody Franson to a new deal today.
Chris can expect DeBrincat in the lineup, when the Blackhawks open up the season on Thursday night with the Penguins in town, who are going to already be playing on back-to-back nights.
