Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 10)

It was a bit of a surprise to see Dustin Byfuglien's name on the scratch list last night, but the Winnipeg coaching staff cleared it up after the 5-2 win over the Oilers, as the hulking defenseman has been dealing with a lower-body injury and he's currently listed as day-to-day.  There wasn't too much for details otherwise.

Byfuglien has an assist and is a -1 in the two early games this season for Wes, who isn't off to a great start this week, his team one of three that didn't escape Monday night with a point.  Wes' team currently sits in 17th, 9 points out of 3rd place.

Dallas Stars forward Martin Hanzal was banged up a bit on the weekend, playing against the Blues, suffering what is being classified as a lower-body injury.  Hanzal's availability for tonight's game against Detroit is still up in the air, but with the team recalling Remi Elie and Hanzal skating before in practice, the signs are pointing to 'doubtful' or maybe 'questionable' at best.  Hanzal is considered day-to-day, if he can't go tonight.

Neil's team had a healthy start to Week Two, picking up 7 points on Monday and it moved up from 16th to 11th.  Hanzal has yet to hit the scoresheet for his new team, but missing a game isn't going to help his cause, regardless.

It sounds like Nashville defenseman Roman Josi is going to take the night off, when the Predators play host to the Flyers tonight.  Josi didn't skate on Monday and wasn't on the ice this morning for the pregame skate, due to an undisclosed injury, and it sounds like rookie Samuel Girard will be making his NHL debut in his spot.

The rough start for Kristy & Don continues on the blueline, as they are still without Shea Theodore in Vegas and now Josi going to be sitting out.  It's not helping their case, down in 21st spot on Tuesday morning.  There's still lots of time for this all to sort out, but they are already losing ground on the money, behind 3rd place by 11 points today.
