Goalie Announcements (Oct 10)

Six out of seven games on Monday were qualifiers for the goalie survival pool, which now leaves 10 teams still to qualify for Week Two and there are still six nights worth of action left to go and four nights worth of action before any panic should really set in.

Last season, Week Two eliminated only three of 17 teams from its competition, while the 2016 season competition lost two of 17 surviving teams, so we're not expecting great losses this week, but there should be teams taking an early plunge here this week too.

Let's see who are out to be saving themselves for another week, shall we?

Carter Hutton (Benson) versus Henrik Lundqvist (Brian)
It's a survivor pool match-up in the Big Apple tonight, as Benson will get a rare start from Blues backup Carter Hutton, while the Rangers and Brian are going to get another start from their number one, Henrik Lundqvist.  Hutton has yet to appear this season, while Lundqvist has been up-and-down in a couple starts already, so it's still a little bit of a game of unknowns, where anything can happen!

Sergei Bobrovsky (Derek B.) versus Scott Darling (Clayton)
Both Derek and Clayton are getting their first cracks at survival for Week Two in the match-up between Columbus and Carolina, both teams on the rise in the Eastern Conference.  Both goalies have won their only start, so far this season and both teams are working on pretty good starts, so far.  Neither pool team are going to be struggling for opportunities to move on, as they both have at least five starts, including this one, this week.

Corey Crawford (Jeremy) versus Carey Price (Dale C.)
All indications are that Dale C. will get his only start tonight with Carey Price in Montreal.  It's his only start tonight.  The Canadiens face the Blackhawks at home and Jeremy's starter, Corey Crawford, is in the clear for any survival pressure, as Jeremy's team qualified yesterday with the Devils' win.

Craig Anderson (Tony) versus Jacob Markstrom (Wes)
The Senators have made the trip out west and they'll start a road trip in Vancouver, taking on the Canucks.  Both Tony and Wes are still in need of a win this week, both teams had starts last night, but failed to pick their necessary W up.  Both teams have lots of opportunity left this week, so there's no panic yet.

Antti Raanta (Ryan) versus Marc-Andre Fleury (Scott B.)
Viva Las Vegas!  It's the home opener for the Vegas Golden Knights tonight at the T-Mobile Arena and it will be all about the bright lights, the glitz and the glamour tonight.  Scott will be looking for a victory to qualify for Week Three with the Knights' number one goalie, while Ryan has already qualified on Monday and his goalie from the desert is looking to spoil the party.  It should be a fun night in Vegas, but will it be fruitful?
