MCL Sprain Sidelines Edler

Ahead of the Canucks finishing their current homestand against the Flames tonight, the Vancouver coaching staff announced that defenseman Alex Edler's lower-body injury that he suffered earlier in the week against the Jets was an MCL sprain and it will keep him out of the lineup for the next 4-to-6 weeks.

Edler hasn't quite been as productive in the offensive categories as he might be a good minute-eater for the Canucks on their blueline, as the veteran only has a single assist in the first three games of the season and that's where he'll stay, likely through the month of November and into the early parts of December.

The last few days have been tough on Tony's team, as injuries have really caught up to his hockey pool team, Edler being one of four names to have been added this week.  Adding Edler to the list, Tony now only has two active blueliners on his pool team, John Carlson and P.K. Subban, and they'll need to carry the load from the back end for a while.  Going into Saturday's action, Tony's defense is tied for 4th in pool scoring with 10 points.
