The 10-1 walloping that the Blackhawks laid on the Penguins on Thursday came at a small price, but it doesn't sound too costly. Forward Nick Schmaltz, who was already on a 3-point night, left the game with an undisclosed injury, but on Friday morning, the coaching staff said he was pulled out as a precaution, given the score in the game, and that he will be good to go on Saturday, when they face the Blue Jackets.
Schmaltz, a rookie, gave Ryan the lead in the unofficial, non-prize winning, rookie pool with his 3 points and was also instrumental in helping Ryan's team climb up to 9th, with 8 points. It's two days in, but you know, it's good to get off to that great start. Look for Schmaltz to help his cause on the weekend as well.
