The Buffalo Sabres and Jack Eichel kept the story the same through the off-season and that was, they wouldn't let any contract extension discussions distract him or the team through the season. Well, on the eve of the regular season kicking off, both sides ensured that to be the case, agreeing on an 8-year, $80 million deal. The $10 million cap hit per season will be among the elite, starting in the 2019 season.
Eichel was taken in the 3rd round of the draft this year and I thought he was one of those guys that could easily go in the 1st round this year, so I think Wes may have gotten himself a bargain.
