Both Dale C. and Chris are now in the clear for Week Three in the goalie survivor pool, as they received wins from their starting goalies last night, easing the anxious nerves of the weekend ahead. This now means that 13 of 18 teams have now qualified for next week, leaving five teams, all having between two and four possible starts this weekend, to battle for survival this week.
The schedule for Friday night is only five games and we'll pick out the survival games to keep an eye on, as we're starting to look for those nail-biter games.
Braden Holtby (Grant) versus Cory Schneider (Jeremy)
It doesn't matter who Washington throws into the crease tonight, Grant has another shot at getting his win tonight in New Jersey and another one in Philadelphia tomorrow, since he has both Capitals goalies. Surprisingly, they haven't been able to post a win this week, given the offensive ability of the team this season. These will be his last two shots at survival, so if you don't see a projected start tomorrow, you'll know things went well tonight.
Henrik Lundqvist (Brian) versus Sergei Bobrovsky (Derek B.)
The New York Rangers are in tough with back-to-back games within the division, starting with Columbus and a Vezina Trophy-winning opponent, sure to get Brian's heartbeat up, I'm sure. His goalie, Lundqvist, may only get one of these two starts on this back-to-back, limiting his chances at that elusive Week Two win. Brian's team is in the thick of the Mover & Shaker and the overall money race, so maybe he won't need to worry about this mini-game.
