Another one of my highlighted free agents was taken off the board earlier in the afternoon, as the Chicago Blackhawks continued to add pieces by signing Andrew Brunette to a 1-year deal, worth $2 million.
Brunette should add some quality top six depth to the Blackhawks as a playmaking forward. In 2011 with the Wild, the 37-year old veteran picked up 46 points (18 goals and 28 assists) in 82 games, which ranked him 111th among all forwards.
The move to a team that has a lot of fire power already should be a step in the right direction for Brunette, who could end up playing with a guy like Marian Hossa and/or Patrick Sharp. There are some real points possibilities in this move.
