Another minor-league deal done on Saturday, again involving the Florida Panthers. The Panthers acquired the restricted free agent rights to speedy Russian forward Sergei Shirokov from the Canucks for the restricted free agent rights to forward Mike Duco.

With reports that Shirokov is heading back to Russia to play, the Canucks were quick to deal his rights away and in return, they received the rights to a minor-league forward in Duco.

If there was anything to take from this deal, it is the chance of Shirokov coming back to play with the Panthers  is definitely measured by the player the Canucks got back.  I don't think we'll see too much with this deal, much like the first deal of the day, but it is certainly worth the attempt.
