The Sabres announced that they have re-signed defenseman Mike Weber to a new multi-year deal on Monday. Details of the new deal were not immediately disclosed. Weber played in 58 games for the Sabres in 2011, scoring 4 goals and adding 13 assists, putting him just outside of the top 80 in scoring defensemen. Weber should be considered a roster player for Buffalo and a full 82-game season could make him into a deep fantasy pool-type player.
The Oilers have also announced that they re-signed defenseman Theo Peckham, giving him a new 1-year deal, no salary terms were immediately available. Peckham, 23, was a restricted free agent this Summer, after playing 71 games for the Oilers in 2011, scoring 3 goals and adding 10 assists. His 13 points won't likely make him into a candidate for a roster spot on your draft team, but he does bring some significant grit to the Oilers' line-up, which should help the team overall.
