The Hurricanes upgraded their defense by signing unrestricted free agent defenseman Tomas Kaberle to a new 3-year deal, worth $12.75 million, which works out to be a salary cap hit of $4.25 million per season.
Kaberle split the 2011 regular season between Toronto and Boston, playing in 82 games, scoring 4 goals and adding 43 assists. Kaberle ranked 13th in scoring among all defensemen and finally added a Stanley Cup ring to his resume in the Spring.
