The Blackhawks have announced that they have re-signed restricted free agent forward Viktor Stalberg, giving him a 2-year deal, reportedly worth $1.75 million, an $875,000 cap hit per year. Stalberg was scheduled for an arbitration hearing in 10 days, but avoids the hearing with this signing on Sunday.
Stalberg played in 77 games with the Blackhawks, scoring 12 goals and 12 assists, finding a regular spot in the line-up during the 2011 season. Not quite hockey pool numbers, but he will provide some depth scoring with the possibility of finding some top six minutes, if injuries add up in the year.
