Frenzy Signing Collection

A pre-frenzy signing, as Cody McCormick signed a 3-year deal with the Sabres, reportedly paying him $3.6 million, a $1.2 million cap hit per season. McCormick played in 81 games for the Sabres in 2011, scoring 8 goals and 12 assists. He's a roster player, but not much of a fantasy player.

The Blackhawks added some grit and veteran presence with the signing of Jamal Mayers, early on in the frenzy day. Mayers played in San Jose in 2011, picking up 14 points in 78 games for the club. Mayers' new deal is only for one year, worth $550,000.

Also for the Blackhawks, they had signed forward Brett McLean to a 1-year, two-way deal, reportedly worth $525,000 up with the NHL club. He has not played in the NHL since 2009.

The Stars have to fill out their roster somehow, so they added unrestricted free agent defenseman Adam Pardy, signing him to a 2-year, $4 million deal on Friday. Pardy should work out to be a pretty decent depth defenseman for the Stars, having scored 1 goal and 6 assists in 30 games with the Flames in 2011.

The Blackhawks continued to get grittier as the afternoon went on, signing veteran defenseman Sean O'Donnell to a 1-year deal, worth $850,000. O'Donnell spent the 2011 season with the Flyers, scoring 1 goal and adding 17 assists in 81 games. He'll provide some more veteran leadership for a young team, should be a good pick-up.

The Calgary Flames locked up a restricted free agent on Friday, giving newly-acquired Chris Butler a 2-year deal, reportedly worth $2.5 million. Butler was acquired from the Sabres in the Robyn Regehr deal and is expected to crack the Flames' blueline in the 2012 season, having 9 points in 47 games in Buffalo.

The Capitals signed Jeff Halpern to a new 1-year deal on Friday, bringing the veteran centre back into the fold. Halpern began his career in Washington, signing there as a free agent in 1999 and now he returns after a solid season in Montreal, 26 points in 72 games. His deal is worth $825,000.

The Blues re-signed unrestricted free agent forward Matt D'Agostini to a new 2-year deal, reportedly worth $3.3 million. D'Agostini scored 21 goals and added 25 assists and just barely squeezing into the fantasy pool picture, ranking 110th among all forwards. It didn't sound like he was going to go anywhere else this Summer, re-signing was the only option.

The Coyotes were busy on frenzy day in the NHL, as they picked up Raffi Torres off the market, signing him to a 2-year deal, said to be a $1.75 million cap hit per season. Torres had a pretty good season in Vancouver, picking up 29 points in 80 games. Torres is a bottom six winger that'll grind it out, not so much of a fantasy pool kind of player.

The Stars later added veteran forward Radek Dvorak, signing him to a 1-year, $1.5 million deal on Friday afternoon. Dvorak played in 66 games between the Panthers and Thrashers, scoring 7 goals and adding 15 assists. Dvorak was a trade deadline deal for the Thrashers, but didn't pay any dividends for them.

The Hurricanes added forward Tim Brent to their roster on Friday, signing the smaller forward to a 2-year deal, which will pay him $1.5 million.  Brent played in 79 games for the Leafs in 2011, scoring 8 goals and 12 assists.  He will likely be a mucker for the Canes, come opening night in October.
