A chicken-wing elbow has landed Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan in some hot water with the league, as Wednesday night, the NHL announced that Doan was given a 3-game suspension for his elbow to the chin of Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn.
Doan will miss the last three games of this week's action, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, in a very important stretch for the Coyotes, who sit in 9th place in the West, going into Thursday night's action. Games against Colorado, San Jose and St. Louis will all be very clutch to their playoff hopes and missing out on Doan will be a huge hole to fill.
There isn't too much impact on the draft standings, since Doan belongs to Derek W. this season and he is down in 21st. This could affect how the Coyotes fare in the playoff hunt and whether or not you want to ride Doan in the playoff pool. I don't think the Coyotes would be too popular in the playoff pool this year, but I thought I would mention it, just in case.
