Big news out of Penguins camp on Tuesday afternoon, as they have announced that Sidney Crosby will return to the line-up on Thursday, to play in their next game against the New York Rangers.
Crosby has been out since the middle of December with this last bout of concussion symptoms and his season has been limited to eight games this year. In those eight games, he has scored 2 goals and 10 assists, which is one of the best scoring rates in the league, but with such a small portion of games played, it really doesn't make too much difference.
The impact in the draft is nil, as Kristy and Don do not have much of a chance for anything this season, but the real impact will be coming in the playoffs, where Crosby will feature nicely as an interesting piece to the Penguins puzzle.
The Penguins are in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff picture and are rolling along quite nicely, with Evgeni Malkin, James Neal and Marc-Andre Fleury running at optimum performances, so the addition of Crosby make the Penguins into a dangerous contender. I would have to believe that we'll see a lot of Penguins predictions this season and rightfully so.
