The Buffalo Sabres have worked themselves back into the playoff spot hunt over the last few weeks and Patrick Kaleta, a Box 19 forward on the playoff pool sheet, was out of Wednesday night's contest against the Montreal Canadiens with an upper-body injury. The reports are indicating that Kaleta may have a broken bone in his hand, possibly a finger, as he was seen with a cast on one of his hands. There is no guarantee that the Sabres will be in the playoffs at this point, but if they do make it, there is a good chance that Kaleta will miss the first round at the very least.
Two healthy scratches for the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night, as both Box 24 forward Wojtek Wolski and Box 25 forward Shawn Matthias were moved up to the press box for the team's game against the Hurricanes. The Panthers ended up dropping the game, 3-1, and you may begin to wonder if rocking the boat (or the roster) was a leading cause of that or it was just another poor effort all around. The Panthers have a 5-point lead in the Southeast Division, so there is a level of safety there and maybe the players were in need of some rest, but I would imagine that they both figure into the team's next game, Friday night against the Oilers.
