The Edmonton Oilers opted to have a little bit more grit in their line-up on Tuesday night against the Predators, substituting Box 8 forward Linus Omark for Darcy Hordichuk and the move paid off, as the new father scored a goal in his return to the line-up in a 6-3 win. The Oilers came out and surprised the Predators with the big win and likely surprised the rest of us as well. Unless Omark will figure back into the line-up for some more ice-time, there is a good chance he'll be sent back down again, just to work on his game with greater amounts of ice-time.
A lower-body injury was reportedly the issue for Box 7 forward Taylor Pyatt on Tuesday night, as he wasn't able to dress in the 4-3 overtime loss to Dallas. Pyatt and the Coyotes are scratching and clawing their way into the playoffs in that super-tight race for the last couple playoff spots in the West and I'm sure many in the Phoenix organization are not terribly happy to see an injury befall their team while in this fight. Pyatt is considered to be day-to-day for right now, I haven't seen any confirmation of his injury status yet, but the team has plenty of bodies up at the moment, just in case.
The San Jose Sharks continue their struggles in the Western Conference playoff race, as they took another loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. Before the game, the defenseman rotation continued to turn, as Jason Demers came out of the line-up once again and Colin White headed back into the line-up, but it didn't seem to help much at all. The Sharks are not in a good spot down the stretch here and if they haven't sorted out their on-ice roster yet, things will likely continue to get worse.
