Friday Night Notes

The Ducks didn't have Todd Marchant in the line-up against the Lightning on Friday night, because of an upper-body injury. It was later discovered that Marchant's finger was in a splint, so guesses could range from sprain to break, which should likely keep the Box 5 forward out of the line-up for at least a week. He wasn't a very popular pick on the Sheet, so no one will really miss him.

I thought it was worth noting that Tim Connolly returned to the Sabres' line-up on Friday night. The oft-injured forward, who is a Draft pick of Larry's, returned from an upper body injury. He finished the game as a -1 in a 2-1 shootout win over the Rangers.

The Oilers added some toughness by activating Steve MacIntyre into their line-up when Ales Hemsky was added to the IR. To make room for him, the Oilers scratched Box 9 forward, Gilbert Brule, from the team's game against the Sharks on Friday night. Brule will likely stay with the Oilers until Hemsky is healthy again, but otherwise could be a healthy scratch for the most part.

The Rangers are now the ones holding their collective breaths as they lost Michal Rozsival to injury in the third period of their game against the Sabres. Rozsival crashed heavily into the boards. There is no immediate word as to the condition of our pool leader's best defenseman, but when there is one, the blog shall be updated.

For the first time in his NHL career, Steven Stamkos was a healthy scratch. Stamkos has been rather cold in the production column of late. As a Draft pick of Chris' this season, Stamkos hasn't been worth all of the hype he was getting during the summer, but maybe a game from the press box will be enough to change his outlook.
