Notes on Thursday Morning

The Blackhawks lost Duncan Keith to what could be a concussion in the second period against Buffalo on Wednesday night after taking a hit from Drew Stafford. Keith, a Draft pick of John B.'s, will likely be re-assessed in the next day or two to find out the extent of his symptoms. If it is a concussion, his mandatory time off will take him through the All-Star Break. Fortunately for him, he doesn't have any commitments to the All-Star Game this season.

An update on Box 11 defenseman, Jack Johnson... his status has now been upgraded to day-to-day, finally. Johnson suffered an arm injury in the first couple games of the year and hasn't played since. The coaching staff believe he could play before the All-Star Game and so does the young defender. Something to consider for the second Waiver Draft.

We are now waiting on news on how Sidney Crosby's lower body injury is going to pan out. The first overall pick in the Draft, left the Penguins' game against the Capitals, after falling awkwardly into the boards, with what looked to be a knee injury, but we won't know for sure until a later date or time. The Penguins forward leaves the scoring race with a good bunch of points, so the Penguins and Chris hope he isn't out for long.

On Wednesday, the parade to the AHL for rehab continued with Torrey Mitchell, who has yet to play a game for the Sharks this season after a fractured leg. Mitchell is getting ready to join an already offensive club. Mitchell had himself a good late season charge with the Sharks and had a decent playoff run, so if he can get some big league games with the Sharks, see who he plays with to make any future decisions.

The Maple Leafs are finished with the Jamie Sifers experiment, as they sent him back down to the AHL and called up Anton Stralman, a John P. Draft pick. Stralman was up with the big club earlier in the year, playing in 22 games, where he earned 7 points (1G, 6A) in that time.
