Monday's Moves

The Sabres are now expecting to be without underachieving Box 24 forward, Maxim Afinogenov, for the next little while, thanks to a groin injury. Afinogenov, a regular healthy scratch of late, has only 2 goals and 10 assists this season and has disappointed all those who cheer for the Sabres. On a positive note, the team will be expecting Box 26 defender, Craig Rivet, back into the line-up tonight.

The Columbus Blue Jackets expect to be without Rostislav Klesla again this season, due to another injury. Klesla will be out of the line-up for at least a week with a bruised foot. The Box 11 defenseman has already missed time this season thanks to a wrist injury and an ankle sprain. Things just aren't going his way this season.

The Oilers welcomed back Marc Pouliot to their line-up last night after missing a couple games thanks to a concussion and out of the line-up went Box 9 forward, Gilbert Brule. If Pouliot is healthy now, expect Brule to head down to the minors here shortly. Brule's stay in Edmonton was pretty short and non-productive.

The Islanders were without Doug Weight last night against the OIlers, as he's now sitting out with a leg injury. The Waiver Draft pick-up of Dennis' has played well this season and is one of the few bright spots on Long Island this season. Since being picked up in the Waiver Draft, Dennis has picked up 10 points in 13 games.

Box 9 forward, Daniel Carcillo, returned to the Coyotes line-up on the weekend, only to take a teammate's stick to the mouth. Carcillo lost three teeth in the incident and had to undergo some dental surgery to correct all the problems that were going on with his chompers. He isn't expected in the line-up tonight and may wait another game or two before returning and getting his dental work punched away.

The Penguins saw Phillipe Boucher return to the line-up after missing a couple games due to an undisclosed injury, so to the press box went Alex Goligoski. Goligoski has done fairly well in his first full season with the Pens and he was a Waiver Draft pick-up of Dale B.'s five weeks ago. Since being picked up, Goligoski has earned 9 points in 16 games on the Pittsburgh blueline.

The Canucks have started to make some room. On Monday, the team sent down goalie, Cory Schneider, and rookie forward, Jannik Hansen. It is believed that Schneider being sent down means that Curtis Sanford is ready to likely back-up Jason LaBarbera in Edmonton on Wednesday and Hansen's move should indicate that Mats Sundin is ready to go.
