Leafs Acquire May

It wasn't a big secret to know that Brian Burke was going to toughen up the Maple Leafs and with his first trade of his regime, he brought one of his all-time favourite players to the team, Brad May. In exchange, the Leafs sent a conditional 6th round pick in 2010. It's just easy to get tougher.

Of course, the Leafs got a bit tougher with this move, but at what expense. With the team sending down Nikolai Kulemin today to make room, they are replacing some softer hands with some harder hands and that's about where it all ends. Yeah, the Leafs were pretty soft against the Senators on Saturday night, but they could do with some more offense as well.

May will work hard for the Leafs, possibly give a guy like Jamal Mayers a tougher winger to play with, some chemistry could develop there.

As for fantasy value, there isn't a lot here. May only has 5 points this season and that almost seems like he's overachieving. Unless penalty minutes are in your pool, this trade really should be a blip on the screen.
