The Bruins had to place their hot-handed forward, Phil Kessel, on the Injured Reserve with mononucleosis. Sure, it's not the flu like the little graphic to the left suggests, but it is an illness, which will rest under the umbrella of a bug. The illness should keep Kessel out of the line-up for at least a week, which is the reason why he was placed on the IR.
Kessel has been one of the key reasons why the Bruins have been so successful, as well as his Draft team with Benson. Kessel has 24 goals and 17 assists in 42 games with the Bruins this year, just under a point-per-game. Kessel is Benson's second-best player in the Draft this season and is ranked 25th in pool scoring this season and is tied for 4th in goals this season. This week, the Bruins are scheduled to have three games and Kessel will miss all of them... at least.
