Tuesday Morning Restart

Good morning poolies, it's Tuesday, the second day of the Chinese New Year, and we're getting ready for a boat load of action to get started tonight, as the All-Star Break ends for 22 teams tonight. I thought I would add a few more roster moves to the news list, just to make sure everyone is aware of what's going on before it all gets underway and update the injury list as well.

The Blue Jackets placed their premier rookie, Nikita Filatov, on the Injured Reserve on Monday with an undisclosed injury, retroactive to the 18th. This caused Filatov to miss out on the AHL All-Star Game on Monday night, which he was selected to start in. With the injury being undisclosed, there hasn't been any indication about how long he'll be out for, but he is eligible to come off the IR before tonight's game against Detroit.

Oilers sophomore forward, Sam Gagner, is questionable for tonight's game at home to Buffalo with an ankle injury. Gagner underwent an MRI to see what the extent of the damage to his ankle is, as it has been bothering him a fair bit this season. The Draft pick of Dennis' will wait for the results of the MRI today before making any decisions, but yesterday's press conference with Craig MacTavish didn't sound overly optimistic. Gagner only has 17 points in 43 games this season for the Oilers.

It's pretty common practice for teams to send down their non-waiver eligible players to the minors over the All-Star Break, as those days still count against the cap, when it comes to daily payments. Then shortly afterwards, they get called back up for practice and such. Nikolai Kulemin has been the only pool forward that was sent down to come back up so far and he should be figuring into the Leafs' line-up tonight in Minnesota.
