The Bruins opened up their Saturday afternoon game against the Flyers with the news that Michael Ryder's facial injury is much worse than first expected. Ryder has suffered a broken bone around his eye & nose, which will keep him out of the line-up indefinitely. Ryder will have his injury re-evaluated on Monday to see what the extent of the damage is and will find out if surgery is necessary.
Ryder has had a reboot of his career in Boston, picking up 19 goals and 17 assists in 52 games this season. As a Draft pick of Dennis', he's has been one of the only bright spots on his team, but if he is now to miss a lot of time, he star may burn out a bit. If surgery isn't necessary, Ryder may be able to return sooner than later, but will likely don a face mask or shield in his return.
