Tuesday Morning Wake-Up Call

The Blue Jackets were without Box 7 forward, Fredrik Modin, again on Monday night, as he sat out with a knee injury. It is believed that he will miss at least the next week with a strained knee, which he suffered against Carolina over the weekend. Modin wasn't a terribly popular pick on the Sheet, so he shouldn't be considered a big loss to the pool.

Terrible news for the Dallas Stars, as they may have lost the services of Brad Richards for quite some time. Richards was checked hard into the boards by Blue Jackets forward, Jakub Voracek, and had to leave the ice with an upper body injury. The fears are growing rapidly that the injury is severe and could cost Richards the remainder of the regular season and I will be sure to update a post when news finally comes down.

It looks as though the roundabout for forwards in the press box has started up again, as Nigel Dawes found his way to some decent seats for the Rangers game against the Blues on Monday night. The coaching staff for the Rangers were employing and one-in and one-off policy earlier in the year, which seemed to have concluded after Dan Fritsche was dealt to Minnesota, but it looks like with all the team's struggles, offense needs to be scared into the team.

Continuing with a bit of a roundabout theme, it was David Hale's turn again to sit in the press box on Monday night, as the Coyotes took on the Oilers. The Box 14 defenseman has seen quite a few games from the press box this season and should continue to do so, unless a deal or two is made to help his cause. In all likelihood, a trade to move him out of town would help him the most, as bringing in new talent would likely see a trip to the minors for Hale. He's a pretty safe bet to drop, if you managed to pick him up.
