Tuesday Morning Notes

Wow, with only two games played last night, there really wasn't a lot of movement in the roster department of the four teams active. The Rangers and Devils have their rosters pretty much set, for the most part, while the Canadiens and Flames aren't carrying much of an injury burden at the moment... especially when it revolves around the pools. It was pretty crazy quiet for something new to report on the injury/news page last night. Let's see if I can dig anything up for your reading pleasure.

On Saturday, the Coyotes lost the services of Box 5 forward, Martin Hanzal, to a shoulder injury. Monday, the Coyotes announced that the injury isn't as severe as once thought and that Hanzal could be back within a week. This season, Hanzal has done alright in Phoenix, with 24 points in 54 games this season, but he'll have to be one of the team's better players down the stretch if they are to make some noise around the playoffs.

The Lightning decided to update the rest of us on what is actually going wrong with Mike Smith, their number one goalie, of late. Apparently, he's been suffering from post-concussion syndrome and that is why he hasn't been able to make it back into the Lightning net. The team has been doing alright with a player they had signed, Mike McKenna, who they picked up when Smith went down. McKenna registered his first win & shutout last week and will likely get another start or two before Smith returns.
