Well, I don't know about you, but I don't know if I have seen so much bad luck in one season, but Dennis, here in the Draft, has had some of the worst (I mean, the worst) luck ever this season and he has now added yet another player to his list of injuries and it isn't good news for him or the Islanders... at all!
The word out of Long Island is that they will now be without Doug Weight for the next six weeks with a sprained MCL. Weight left the Islanders' game against the Devils on Wednesday night with a lower body injury and the tests from this afternoon show that there is some ligament damage in Weight's knee.
The biggest loss associated with this injury could possibly be that the Islanders are now without some serious trade-fodder to help bring in some more young assets to a rebuilding team. Weight was considered to be a big commodity in the trade market to a contending team, but being out for the next six weeks, through the Trade Deadline, should dampen that severely.
If there is much for good news this year, the Islanders should be able to keep their spot in last place in the NHL, without issue, and have a cracking good spot in the lottery for the number one overall pick in the Draft in June. Theoretically, there is only one winner in the lottery, so they should be getting either John Tavares or Victor Hedman in the Draft, unless they deal that pick away... for A LOT!
