Goalie Announcements (Nov 1)
It was an awfully busy weekend away from the computer, so there wasn't much for updates, obviously. Now that we're into Sunday's action, let's see what's left to do in the goalie survivor pool.
Only three teams remained, heading into Sunday, in need of a win to stay in the pool. Eric, Grant and John S. still hadn't had much luck in Week Four, so they were down to their final hours... if they had any.
For Eric, Thomas Greiss is the only possible goalie for him to go today, as the Islanders are to face off against the Sabres. At first glance, it looks like Jaroslav Halak (Dale B.) will be taking on Chad Johnson (John P.). All indications are suggesting that Eric will be out of the competition today.
Next up is Grant, who couldn't get a win out of Brian Elliott in St. Louis and also lost the services of Jonas Hiller in Calgary to injury. There's nothing on the schedule for him today, so he'll be out.
Finally, John S. had one last shot at a win on Sunday, but the big news of the day, Carey Price forced out of the lineup with a lower-body injury, ended his chances at a win this week, as James Reimer and the Leafs are not going today.
In actual starting news, it does appear that Mike will have both his goalies going at the same time for the first time this season, as Andrei Vasilevskiy does appear to be the starter for the Lightning tonight, taking on Cam Ward (Neil) and the Hurricanes. His other goalie, Michael Hutchinson, is also scheduled to go, taking on Mike Condon (non-pool) and the Canadiens tonight.
