Scandella On IR, Out For a Week (or More)

Reports are surfacing on Thursday morning that the Minnesota Wild are placing defenseman Marco Scandella on the Injured Reserve, due to a lower-body injury.  By the sound of things, he has been dealing with this issue for a little while and now it's worth the team's while to rest him to get him back to 100%.

There isn't a great deal of detail surrounding this injury or this placement on the IR, except that the Wild expect him to miss some games coming up.

This season, Scandella has picked up 3 goals and 3 assists in 15 games, which has him ranked 298th overall in pool scoring.

Scandella has been Wes' best defenseman this season and that isn't saying too much, when talking about his defense or his goalies, where he's having a really tough start to the year.  In terms of bright spots, Scandella would have been considered one, as he is only one of three players on Wes' team to be better than his draft spot and in this case, it's only three spots better.  That number will soon drop below, as the injury continues to cost him games.

Wes' defensemen rank 27th in scoring and his goalies are 26th, but his forwards are 5th, largely the reason why his team is not quite in last place.  His team is 12 points clear of last, at this point in the season.  On the plus side, his team is a misconduct ahead of Eric's team for the lead in the PIM pool, so there is money to be had, at the very least.
