Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Nov 22)

A lower-body injury forced Dallas defenseman Jason Demers out of the game against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night and the initial thought about the injury isn't terribly positive. The coaching staff indicated that this injury could keep out the 27-year old defender out of the lineup for a while.

Demers has been a good defender for Brenda & Seward to start this season, picking up 4 goals and 10 points in his first 19 games this year, ranking him 193rd overall in pool scoring.  He's definitely considered a bargain pick for the 12th round.  It's these kind of bargain picks that have pushed the pool's second duo to the top 10 at the start of the year.

We're waiting to hear what the exact nature of the lower-body injury that Ondrej Pavelec suffered is and how long he'll be out for, but with reports that he was seen leaving the building after the game against the Coyotes on crutches, optimism is running at an all-time low.  Pavelec wasn't able to register a decision in the game, handing off the reins to Michael Hutchinson after the 1st period and it looks like that will be the case going forward.

Stuart's team finished Saturday night in 10th place, 14 points out of the money and Pavelec was contributing to the early successes, albeit marginally, having only 10 points in the first seven weeks of the season.  Stuart's team is still alive in the goalie survivor pool, having Corey Crawford also in tow, but this could be a big blow to his chances next week, if Chicago has a limited schedule.
