The NHL decided to suspend Flyers forward Daniel Briere for two games after a late hit he put on Scott Hannan of the Avalanche in last night's game. After Hannan had scored to make the game 4-2 for the Avalanche, Briere purposefully jumped up and elbowed Hannan in the neck/throat area, knocking him to the ice and injuring him to the point that he had to leave the game. Briere was not penalized on the play, but the play was reviewed by the league after the game and the suspension was handed down.
Briere will be eligible to return on Saturday night.
Briere will be missed in the Draft this week by Chris, who has been using Briere to make his way out of the pool basement. Briere is also a member of Box 20 on the Sheet, with a few selections.
