Reports today are indicating that the Predators will be without star defenseman, Shea Weber, for the next week or two with a foot injury. I have not seen anything to indicates what is wrong with Weber's foot or how he injured it, but there are plenty of Tweets and such saying that he will be out for the next couple weeks. If I was to offer a guess, I would say it's likely just a bruised foot with some significant swelling, as a break would likely keep him out three or more weeks.
Weber has had a pretty good start to the NHL campaign in Nashville, scoring five goals and four assists in the first 13 games. Weber is in line for a spot on the Canadian Olympic Team this February and his good start offensively is certainly helping his cause, because we all know how solid he is defensively, especially in his physical play. The Predators are going to miss his minutes, without a doubt.
Weber is a pick of Wayne's in the Draft this year and Wayne is right in the thick of it all after Week Five, sitting in 8th place, only 7 points out of the money. Weber is Wayne's top defenseman on the team with the 9 points, which almost counts for half of his team's production from the blueline. That'll hurt the next couple of weeks, not having Weber in the line-up.
On the Sheet, Weber is among the top defensemen in the Western Conference in Box 10, but wasn't taken at all this year. He's only 4 points out of being the best defenseman in the box as well, which is currently held by Dan Boyle of the Sharks with 13 points.
