Ducks Waive Christensen

Well, well, well... whattya know. Erik Christensen has been placed on waivers, likely to be sent down to the minors if he clears. A change of scenery was thought to be likely for Christensen in this past newsletter, so I'd like to say I told you so. Christensen came with a little bit of upside from Atlanta, but couldn't find his stride with the Ducks, so it looks like its high-time for him to find his place, either in the minors or with another team.

Christensen signed a 1-year deal in the off-season with the Ducks for only $750,000, so there shouldn't be any affordability issues by picking him up. He will likely be an attractive third-line player for nothing in return.

Also being waived, but less notable... Jay Harrison in Carolina and Lukas Kaspar in Philly, according to Bob McKenzie at TSN.

ImplicationsChristensen was taken once in the Sheet pool, as a member of Box 8. As a player with no points this season, he has been far from the best player in the box, falling behind Justin Williams in Los Angeles, who has 9 points, currently. Dustin Byfuglien is the most popular player in the box, being taken 10 times.
