Boll Avoids Arbitration

Another tough guy contract on the books, as the Blue Jackets signed Jared Boll to a new 2-year deal worth $1.45 million in total, a $725,000 cap hit per year.  In three seasons with Columbus, Boll has racked up 555 minutes in penalties, remarkably with his totals dropping each year, picking up a mere 149 minutes in 2010.  He should be considered a good goon for pools with penalty minutes, but not so much of a good scorer, only picking up 7 points in 68 games.

Salary CapThe Jackets are drawing closer and closer to a finished roster and we're not even at the end of July. It will be hard for a prospect to draw in with this level of talent already signed. This group of 21 players is signed on for about $52 million and there is also a buyout on the books that brings their cap hit to approximately $52.6 million. The biggest item left on their agenda is Anton Stralman, who has an arbitration hearing to help the process along on the way, so they should be sorted before too long.
