Valiquette and Demitra Off to Europe

Once he was Henrik Lundqvist's consistent partner in crime in the Big Apple, but now Steve Valiquette has signed on with CSKA Moscow in the KHL and has now been removed from day-to-day thinking among goalies for fantasy purposes. I'm not exactly sure what happened in Valiquette's last days as a Rangers goalie, but his exodus from the regular roster was swift and it was surprising that no one went after him. Almost says to me that he displeased a few people he may have wanted to keep happy.

Out of Vancouver, we have possibly seen the last of Pavol Demitra, who signed with Yaroslavl of the KHL on Thursday. Demitra played the last two seasons with the Canucks, but with some injuries and some off-ice family issues, Demitra could not live up to the contract he initially signed with the club and his stock eventually went down as a whole. Being closer to home in Russia does make a lot of sense for him and his family right now.
