The Dallas Stars signed on one of their top young prospects, Scott Glennie to his 3-year entry-level deal on Tuesday. He was in my Dallas Stars' ones to watch paragraph as a guy who might be able to jump up to the NHL this coming year. He had a pretty good year with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL and will be at camp with his eyes on a spot. Now he has the deal to accommodate that goal, so watch out for him.
The Minnesota Wild have re-signed back-up goaltender Josh Harding to a new 1-year deal on Wednesday and in such a tight free agent goalie market as there is in 2010, he should be pretty pleased that he has a job for the coming season. Harding will become an unrestricted free agent next Summer, but he'll have to bide his time in 2011, hoping for a little extra ice to show off his skills.
In 2010, Harding picked up 9 wins, a shutout and an assist for 21 points in the pool, ranking him 47th among goalies. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I would imagine that he'll be back to about the same totals in 2011.
The Washington Capitals may have found themselves a reasonable cap hit player for their bottom six in Brian Willsie. Willsie signed a 1-year deal with the Caps on Thursday, but it won't be until training camp before we know where he stands for the coming year. Willsie spent most of the 2010 season with the Avalanche's minor league affiliate, playing in only 4 games with the Avalanche. He might not be much of a fantasy player, but I imagine he might be able to sneak onto the roster, thanks to cap constraints.
