Jokinen returns to Calgary after a short absence after the trade deadline, when he was dealt to the Rangers for their stretch run. Jokinen signed a new 2-year deal worth $6 million, a far cry from the deal he brought with him in the first go around with the team, having only a $3 million cap hit this time around. Jokinen finished the 2010 season with 50 points in 82 games between Calgary and New York.
Ivanans, known more as a goon for the Los Angeles Kings for the past four seasons, has not done any worse than 134 penalty minutes in any of those seasons, meaning he'll give some added punch to the Flames line-up. Ivanans also played the most games in the NHL, 61, without scoring a point in 2010. Ivanans signed a 2-year deal as well, but there are no cap figures for him at the moment.
Also getting a new 2-year deal is defenseman Jackman, who has played the last three seasons with the New York Islanders and in 2010, he picked up 4 goals and 5 assists in 54 games. Jackman is a pretty big body who should compliment the Flames blueline with his size, but doesn't bring too much in terms of offense. His cap numbers were not immediately disclosed on Thursday evening, so his appearance on the team table will have to wait.

It's too bad that we didn't have cap information for both Ivanans or Jackman tonight, but we can tell you with Tanguay and Jokinen on the table right now, the Flames have 20 players signed on for $58.9 million, giving the Flames only $500,000 left under the cap for three players. The Flames could get away with adding either Ivanans or Jackman to the list, if they have a league minimum cap hit, but they can only choose one and that's how the team would open up. Very interesting days in Calgary, we'll have to see if they pulled the plug on Nigel Dawes or Ales Kotalik officially tomorrow. That will save them some cap space going forward.
