Neither player really has a lot of fantasy value going into 2011, but they should play some important roles with the club, trying to make it into the playoffs. Lalime plays behind one of the best workhorses in the NHL in Ryan Miller, so the number of minutes he gets to play is at a premium, while Niedermayer has developed into a solid 3rd line centre in the league, not relied upon to score many goals or pick up many points.

The Sabres are free of any buyouts or penalties at this point in July, so that means that they are able to use all of their cap space for players this year. As of Thursday morning, I have the Sabres in with 10 forwards, 6 defense and their goaltending tandem signed for an annual cap hit of $50.2 million. The Sabres only need three more forwards and a defenseman to round out their line-up and they'll have plenty of cap space to use to fill the vacancies.
