The New York Islanders have announced that they have re-signed restricted free agent forward Robbie Schremp and restricted free agent defenseman Dustin Kohn, after they both agreed to sign their 1-year qualifying offers. Both players had until a 5pm ET deadline to re-sign to those offers today or else they would be null and void afterwards.
Schremp will get another crack at making the Islanders opening night line-up in 2011, after he got some good experience in 2010, playing in 44 games with the team, scoring 7 goals and adding 18 assists. That's not a bad scoring rate for him, which would translate really well if he was to get a full-time job on the Island. He could be in line for a 40+ point season.
Kohn is a little ways down in the depth chart with the Islanders, playing in only 22 games with the club, picking up 4 assists. The depth of veterans on the club will be the only thing keeping him from an everyday job, unless he can do amazing things in the AHL.
I don't have cap numbers for these signings, so we'll just move on without them...
