The Flyers continued to round out their line-up on Tuesday by signing
Daniel Carcillo to a new 1-year deal worth $1.075 million. Carcillo seemed to be more of an impact player in the regular season, more than the playoffs, but he played his role in both situations and the Flyers seemed to benefit well from him being on the ice, so a contract renewal only made sense. In the regular season, Carcillo potted 12 goals, added 10 assists in 76 games, which only put him 247th among forwards, but he also tallied 207 minutes in penalties, which ranks among the best in the league. You know he'll be good for a lot of minutes in 2011.

Unfortunately for the Flyers, the team that they have signed on above won't last too long, because they are currently sitting over the annual cap ceiling. The current roster of 13 forwards, 6 defense and a pair of goalies, which could in theory start the season as of right now, stands at $61.1 million, $1.7 million over the cap ceiling. The rumours of
Simon Gagne being the odd man out still persist and at $5.25 million, why not, right?
