The injury news is starting really early this year, as Sami Salo, a favourite among all injured players on the list, has reportedly torn his Achilles tendon playing and working out in Finland. The Canucks confirmed the report and will now list him as out indefinitely.
In other Achilles tendon injuries listed on the blog, we have been looking at somewhere upwards of 4-to-6 months recovery time, which would put Salo back in the line-up in late-November to late-January. This will definitely put a large dent in his season, while the Canucks are thankful they had made the acquisitions of Keith Ballard and Dan Hamhuis in the off-season.
Fantasy-wise, we shouldn't be looking towards Salo any time soon, moving his date back to January would make him a mid-season acquisition, barring any setbacks. I don't think we have to be specialists to figure this one out.
