The Atlanta Thrashers have re-signed Ondrej Pavelec on Thursday, giving him a new 2-year deal worth $2.3 million, which is a $1.15 million cap hit each year. Pavelec split time with Johan Hedberg in 2010, playing in 2,317 minutes, winning 14 games, 2 by shutout and adding an assist.
With Chris Mason now in the mix for the 2011 season in Atlanta, it won't be any easier getting time in the crease, as Mason should be coming in there to run the number one job for a while. Pavelec will certainly have his work cut out for him and I'm expecting a drop in his time on ice, which should lead to a drop in numbers.
