Missed this note from Friday... San Jose prospect forward Timo Meier won't be starting the season on time, thanks to a bout of mononucleosis. The former 1st round pick (2015) was certainly making some strides towards getting a good early look in the regular season with the Sharks, but he is now expected to miss about four weeks worth of action with the illness. This setback will likely have him start in the AHL this season, once healthy, especially since there have been some other performances in the preseason that may have topped his efforts.
Deep, deep depth defenseman Victor Bartley will reportedly be out of the Minnesota Wild lineup for quite awhile, according to the coaching staff. The injury has been reported as torn triceps, which will be in the months, rather than the weeks, in length. It didn't seem terribly likely that Bartley was going to be making onto the roster to start the season, but he won't even be heading down to the minors until he is healthy.
