We're awaiting further word on the status of Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon, who left last night's game against the Maple Leafs after taking a hard hit from Matt Martin. Currently, the Wild have him listed as out day-to-day with an upper-body injury, but that's all we know at the moment.
The Minnesota Wild have a couple of games yet to be played this weekend, a Saturday and Sunday back-to-back set, but there's no word on whether or not Spurgeon will be able to participate or not yet. The blueliner has a goal and an assist in four games for Cam, so far this season, which has helped his team up to 5th place.
The Pittsburgh Penguins blueline is taking a swift kicking in the last couple of games, already down Kristopher Letang, they lost the services of both Olli Maatta and Derrick Pouliot on Thursday night as well. Both Maatta and Pouliot didn't come back out from the 2nd intermission against the Sharks, both injuries undisclosed, and the Penguins announced that they had placed Pouliot on the Injured Reserve, giving them space to recall Derek Warsofsky for their game on Saturday in Nashville. Maatta will be considered day-to-day, if he cannot go, but with the placement on the IR, Pouliot will miss a minimum of a week.
Of course, the IR placement means that Pouliot's projected games will come off of Troy's total, which brings him down to 16 games for the weekend. That'll put him in the middle of the pack, not too high, not too low. Dale B. may also miss a game or two, but they won't come off his projected total, until otherwise noted.
