It looks like someone is going to get an extended stay on the Florida Panthers roster, as forward Nick Bjugstad will miss the next four weeks with a broken hand, as per reports this morning.
The power forward missed a good chunk of time in the 2016 season to an upper-body/head injury, limiting his offensive output to only 34 points in 67 games and now to miss the first three weeks of the season is not exactly the best way to get back in the saddle.
The current projections for the 24-year old are actually down from last season, thanks in part to this injury and him seemingly falling down in the Florida depth charts, he's coming in at the 30-point range, which could allow for him to still be a bargain. He is, however, working his way towards the Injury Prone List, as he has had some concussion problems in the past and those are hard to escape.
In total, the Panthers have 27 players still in camp, including Bjugstad, and instead of making four cuts before the season starts, Bjugstad would start on the Injured Reserve and the team will only have to make three cuts.
