Huberdeau to Miss Four Months

The news is bad for Jonathan Huberdeau and the Florida Panthers, as the team confirmed on Sunday afternoon that their pivot will indeed miss the next three-to-four months with his leg injury.

There's no question that this is a huge blow to the Panthers opening night lineup and the team's make-up through to the New Year, as they certainly had plans to compete for a playoff spot and beyond this season.  This won't necessarily ruin their season, by any stretch of the imagination, but it won't make their run any easier.

My early season projection for Huberdeau was in the 65-point range, as it is really coming to the time where he should be able to break out in his career and really put up some numbers, but obviously, when you take half the season away, he won't have that kind of value for the season.

Stacey M. will have the ability to drop Huberdeau, as a preseason injury is an unforeseen circumstance and for the purpose of leveling the playing field for opening night (as best as we can), she will have the opportunity swap him out.  Stacey will have until puck drop on Wednesday to make the change, otherwise, she will have to wait for the Week Eight Waiver Draft.
