Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Oct 20)

On Tuesday night, Arizona Coyotes number one goalie Mike Smith left the game with a lower-body injury, related to his leg, leaving Louis Domingue to eat the rest of a 7-4 loss to the Senators.  Smith has been deemed unable to go on Thursday, with the team saying that he is day-to-day with his current injury and they have called up Justin Peters to back-up Domingue for their game against the Canadiens tonight.  The Coyotes will continue this road trip that they are on, which will continue through New York and the Eastern Seaboard until they're home on the 29th.

The Coyotes were still waiting on MRI results on Smith's injury, which was the last bit of news that I had, so the day-to-day assumption will be all we have to go on for Marcie's goalie.  Marcie's start has been very good, so far, finishing up Wednesday night in 4th place, 4 points out of 1st place.  It will be thought to be a lost start tonight, but hopefully it isn't too many afterwards.

An emergency recall has seen Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock return to the big club from the AHL, but there is no word on who he is replacing in the lineup, if he makes it in tomorrow night against the visiting Coyotes.  Pulock is waivers exempt, but he must be taking the spot of someone to help with an injury situation or else it would really be strange to use these circumstances.  Nevertheless, he's up for now.

If he can get into the Islanders' lineup, he will certainly be helping Wes out to start the year, as he is in 16th place to start Thursday morning, 11 points out of 1st.  Wes has been short on skater games in a the first week of full play, sitting tied for 22nd in the category, already 12 games back of 1st.

It only took about three games to get over, but the back spasms that kept Kevin Klein out of the Rangers' lineup has subsided and he was able to return to the lineup for the game against the Red Wings on Wednesday night.  He wasn't able to hit the scoresheet, but just getting back was a step in the right direction at the very least.

Definitely good news for Marcin, who has been keeping a reasonable pace at the start of the season, sitting 15th this morning, 11 points out of 1st, but with plenty of games to play this week.  Marcin's team is also in the mix for the PIM pool to start, sitting in 3rd, 13 minutes out of top spot.
