The Buffalo Sabres, as a whole, may end up on the Injury Prone List before too long, especially if all these injuries keep piling up. Last night's injury to Evander Kane has turned out to be rather significant, as he suffered three cracked ribs during that collision with the end boards on Thursday night and the team expects him to be out "weeks" with the injury.
Kane was hurt in the 2nd period of the game against the Canadiens on Thursday night, losing his balance in a foot race with defenseman Alexei Emelin and sliding sideways into the end boards. The young winger needed help to get off the ice and was taken to hospital, where they had tests done, resulting in this diagnosis. Would have to think that he will miss at least a month, but it's too hard to say at the moment.
For Tony, this is currently his second player on the shelf for an extended period of time and he has one defenseman in the minors, so the skater games won't add up too quickly at this rate. Still, his team is providing scoring from those who are active on the ice. His team will open Friday night in 8th place, 4 points back of 1st place.
Even with all of his missing players, he still isn't at the bottom of the projected games list for the week, as his team is still poised for a busy weekend, with 15 games.
